Spotify Mod App FAQs, Issues, and Fixes (2024)

Many of our readers were experiencing issues with the Spotify mod APK, and we received countless emails and messages daily. So, we decided to compile all your questions, create a dedicated section for the most commonly asked questions, answer all the queries, and provide fixes. All in one blog post.

It will serve as a resource section where we can redirect our readers so they can resolve the known issues without waiting for us to respond.

What does Spotify mod do? Which features are unlocked by Spotify mod?

The mod does not provide you with a free Spotify premium account. You need to subscribe to premium to access all features.

Here are the free premium features unlocked by Spotify mod APK:

Blocks advertisements.
Unlimited music skips.
It allows you to play any music.
There is no forced shuffle playback.
Allows up to “High” premium audio quality (160kbps OGG).
Unlocks some UI features that are usually restricted to free-tier users.
Experimental builds may unlock official A/B features that are not yet available to all.
“AB” builds provide an “AMOLED” black theme.

The Spotify mod app does NOT:

Give you free Spotify Premium.
Unlock lyrics.
Unlock “Very High” or “HiFi” audio quality.
Offline listening experience.
Unlock downloading songs/playlists for offline playback.
Unlock AI DJ or AI Playlists.
Unlock Group Sessions.
Unlock starting or remotely joining Jams.

What does Spotify Lite mod do?

The mod does not provide you with a free Spotify premium account. You need to subscribe to premium to access all features.

Spotify Lite mod is based on the official Lite version from Spotify, which has reduced APK size and memory usage but also comes with less features (no Spotify Connect, no Android Auto, no Wrapped).

Here are the features unlocked by Spotify Lite mod APK:

Blocks advertisements.
Unlimited music skips.
It allows you to play any music.
There is no forced shuffle playback.
Allows up to “High” premium audio quality (160kbps OGG).
Unlocks some UI features that are usually restricted to free-tier users.

The Spotify Lite mod app does NOT:

Give you free Spotify Premium.
Unlock lyrics.
Unlock “Very High” or “HiFi” audio quality.
Offline listening experience.
Unlock downloading songs/playlists for offline playback.

Spotify says, “app is not installed as the package appears to be invalid,” aka parsing error, how to fix it?

The quick fix is to download the Spotify mod cloned version. This error can appear for multiple reasons; however, one of the most notable causes is that your phone came preinstalled with Spotify as a system app and cannot be uninstalled.

I cannot play music and all my custom playlists are empty, why?

From the beginning of 2024, Spotify has started to do this for accounts that are not connecting in their “home” region after 14 days.

To fix the issue, follow these steps:

Confirm your Spotify region setting and current IP address location match.
You will need to change your Spotify region in account settings to match the IP location or use a proxy/VPN to change your IP region to match the account region at least once every 14 days.

Once the account region and IP location are matched, you may need to log out and log in again.

Spotify mod says “No Internet” or mentions a “14 day” error; why?

All issues that say “No Internet,” “Offline,” and “14-day” errors are not related to the mod. These are limitations set by Spotify. Please follow the steps to fix the issue with your Spotify account.

According to Spotify, free-tier accounts can only be outside of their “home region” for up to 14 days at a time. Then, your current IP address region must match the region set in your Spotify account profile settings. See Spotify’s country/region settings page for more info here.

For example, if the Spotify account profile settings are set to the USA but you are located in the UK, once every 14 days, you will need to log into Spotify or use a Spotify client while using a USA IP through VPN/Proxy.
Or, if you live in, for example, Canada but the Spotify account profile country/region location has been changed at some point due to traveling or using a VPN, the Spotify account profile country/region setting should be changed back to Canada.

The “no internet/offline” error may occur in unsupported Spotify regions or regions without a free tier. See the Q&A below for more info on this.

Spotify mod is blank or only shows a Premium button, why?

This issue is not related to the Spotify mod and is actually due to Spotify’s limitations.

The causes of this error could be:

Spotify is being used in an unsupported region – check here for supported regions.
Spotify is used in regions that do not have a free-tier plan, such as South Korea, which is Premium-only.

To fix the issue, you must change the region of your Spotify account. Here’s how to fix it:

Use a VPN/proxy set to a country/region different from the one you are currently in.
View the account profile page, and use the drop-down menu to change the region to that of the VPN.

Why isn’t Spotify mod working on my phone?

It is important to note that most issues are between Spotify and your device—the mod rarely introduces its own issues. Downloading and installing a different version usually rectifies the issue.

You can first try the following to clear up any known issues:

Force close the app, then reopen the app.
Stop the app and clear/erase Spotify app data in Android app settings, then reopen the app.
Confirm the Spotify region setting and verify if the current IP location matches with your profile.
Reboot your phone.

If you are still experiencing issues, then you can perform these troubleshooting methods:

You can change mod versions. You can either downgrade or upgrade to another version. We have noticed that sometimes a different version works better on some devices.
Use non-AMOLED/non-CLONE mod variants to see if the problem goes away.
Download and install the unmodded version of Spotify. You can easily get the exact version you are using for the mod from APKPure. (If you are using mod v8.9.18.512, then get the official v8.9.18.512 and see how that works.)
It’s not a satisfying solution, but you might want to wait for a new mod version to be released in hopes it fixes the current bug.

Why aren’t Spotify mod features working?

Current releases (v8.8.14.757 and newer) no longer require force-closing and clearing the data of the mod for things to work (although sometimes this does still fix some issues – so we will always recommend trying that first).

While there is a possibility you might be using v8.9.x.x mod that still sees the premium button on the main screen, you will need to downgrade to v8.8.x.x instead.

Also, it is important to note that:

If your Spotify account region is set to Turkey, you may have issues with the mod.
- The fix for this is to use a VPN/proxy to change the Spotify region in your account profile settings to another country or use Spotify Lite mod.

I cannot log into the Spotify mod, why?

There are multiple troubleshooting steps, please read and follow each one of these one by one:

Make sure you are NOT using the Facebook Connect or Google Sign-in option.
Confirm that your Spotify region and IP are supported by Spotify.
Confirm your Spotify region setting matches your current IP region.
Confirm the same email/userID and password are working on Spotify.com, please manually enter the login credentials and double-check them.
Confirm you aren’t using a VPN/DNS/proxy or any VPN/DNS-filtering which Spotify may not like.
Add a space at the end of the email (it works for some users, but not everyone).

After doing everything mentioned above, try to sign in again. Leave the login error screen running and lock your phone. Wait a few minutes (up to 20 minutes), then open the phone. Spotify should now be logged in.

There are other reasons that could be causing login issues, which includes:

Spotify may reset passwords automatically for security reasons. Please check your email for the details.
It’s recommended always to use an email address you can access. Avoid using temporary email for this.
If you need to create a new account, then it is recommended that you use Spotify.com, which is a web version. Avoid using the mod app for signups/creation of new accounts.
If you were previously using the Facebook Connect/Google login feature and you don’t yet have a dedicated Spotify account, then please create a Spotify password to log in with your email address.

Why aren’t the lyrics working?

As of May 1, 2024, Spotify has disabled lyrics for free-tier accounts, hoping users will move to premium.

Technically, Spotify allows you to play three songs with lyrics per month, but due to the mod patches, this limit of three will not work for most users.

Unless Spotify officially adds lyrics back for free-tier users in the future, users who want lyrics will need to subscribe to Spotify Premium or use a third-party lyrics app such as MusixMatch or Genius to enjoy them.

Does Spotify Wrapped work with the mod?

Yes, it does. The only condition for Spotify Wrapped is that the Spotify app version must be recent enough to support Wrapped for the specific year in question.

Wrapped 2023 should work with mod version 8.8.80.599 and higher.

Mod is not working with Android Auto, why?

Spotify mod works with Android Auto. If Spotify is not showing up in Android Auto, then follow these steps:

Enable “Developer Mode” in Android Auto (see guide here)
Once enabled, allow “Unknown Sources” from within Android Auto’s Developer Mode.
Open the Spotify app on your phone before connecting to Android Auto.

If you are using Spotify mod AMOLED or CLONE variant, you may experience some issues with Android Auto. It is recommended that you switch to a non-AMOLED/non-CLONE build and see if that makes it work.

What is Spotify Mod Experimental, AMOLED, and Cloned? What’s the difference between them all?

Here are some of the known Spotify mod variants:

Regular Mod: It has a default theme with minimal patches, blocks advertisements, unlocks unlimited skips, and disables forced shuffle.
Experimental or A/B: It has everything available in the regular mod but includes additional official Spotify features that are still in the A/B testing phase.
AMOLED: Applies an AMOLED black dark theme to the build type. In some variants, the theme may not be truly black; instead, it will be dark.
Cloned: Same as the regular mod but changes the APK package name. It is best suited for phones that come preinstalled with Spotify.

What does the Spotify Cloned Mod version do?

The cloned version is the same as the regular mod. It only changes the package name.

You may have a phone with Spotify pre-installed, and you are unable to disable or uninstall the preinstalled version, which blocks you from installing the mod. This is where the clone version comes in handy, as it has a different Android APK package name than the normal mod or stock/official version and allows you to install and use the mod.

Why do you have to get a clone version, you may ask?

Android’s security does not allow the installation/updating of an APK that shares the same package name as one currently installed if the signatures do not match. The Spotify mod versions and the official stock Spotify versions have different signatures, but both use the same package name, i.e., com.spotify.music.

This is why first uninstalling the official Spotify version is required when using the mod. It also explains why people who have phones with pre-installed Spotify versions cannot use the mod and why the dev team has developed a “clone” version of the mod.

Spotify is preinstalled on my device, what can I do?

You need to uninstall it before installing the mod. If you are unable to uninstall the app because it came preinstalled or if it is a system app, in such scenarios you will need the cloned version. We have explained more about the clone variant in the previous question.
